Is spam fighting for real, or is it just a conspiracy of major content providers to eliminate (or )?

If you don’t understand what they are talking about, then try to run server on your domain. Majority of all spam comes from GMail, Yahoo, Hotmail, but nobody dares to block them, so pretends to be a solution by only blocking small sites.

@mcepl maybe if SMTP evolved into a modern and useful protocol in time, we wouldn't need spam filtering services today, but since it's kinda shit and anything new in it would break compatibility, we're stuck with anything that works

@albi

Do you know about anything where I could send a message to any random person in the world without researching on what servers that person is and which yet another account I have to subscribe to and then to unsubscribe when I finish? And the message should be longer than two lines (so no SMS).

@mcepl That's why we need to get everyone onto the fediverse or Matrix. Email is not cutting it, Jabber is almost dead, I still can't bring myself to trust Signal. But nor fedi nor Matrix are even mainstream yet. So... no, no I don't. nkoShrug

@albi

Dream on! I was talking about a message I sent yesterday morning to a random journalist from the Czech national newspapers as a reaction on her article. The idea she would be ever on Matrix is ridiculous.
