I've flirted with the idea of starting a podcast, but I can never come up with an idea that's interesting enough to justify the effort. I've had a few ideas, but 3 episodes does not a podcast make.
Mostly I like playing with sound and computers. Yesterday it dawned on me that I could start a podcast called "Lance Bought a Microphone."
@analogfusion You totally could do a podcast called that!
How far down the audio road do you go? I listen to MANY podcasts about audio…
@Topslakr That's a thought, but my knowledge on the topic isn't that deep. I'm really just a tinkerer. I ran a couple church soundboards when I was younger, but that's it.
I'd exhaust anything interesting I know about working with audio in about 15 minutes. 😅
@analogfusion I could do hundreds of shows about pro-audio. Microphones, compressors, REVERBS! I could talk for days…
Would anyone want to listen? Why should they? 🤣
@Topslakr I think the key is finding a subject niche that isn't already filled by a bunch of related podcasts.
There are at least a few film photography podcasts, and it's hard to imagine I could add anything new there. The same goes for most other topics I've considered.
The best podcasts are the ones that have multiple hosts, I think. The banter often makes the show. Nobody would want to listen to me drone on about a favorite topic. 😆
@analogfusion Go for it, Lance. What's the worst that could happen?
@crypticinquiry I really don't have any good ideas that would make for more than a few episodes at most.
@analogfusion I had a short lived podcast that I want to revive called ‘Today in the Future’ where me and my co-host talked about all the ‘future’ tech of today and how it could or could not improve life.
@grubbslinger May I ask why it was short-lived? That's my biggest fear - that I'll start out strong but quickly fizzle out.
@grubbslinger I do have one idea for a tech-related show that could easily generate a half dozen episodes right off the top of my head.
@analogfusion my co-host wasn’t able to commit the time and then Covid hit.
@analogfusion I was never able to find another co host after that.
@grubbslinger That's got to be a challenging situation, especially if you've built a rapport with them.
