I was just able to read a Dutch post that included two screenshots of Dutch text content, even though I don't speak Dutch. How?

- The poster had kindly included ALT text for the screenshots. ❤️

- Mastodon supports machine translation (your admin has to enable it). The feature translates ALT text along with the rest of the post.

This is just one small example of the many compounding effects of attention to #accessibility.

I love that the fediverse has a pulse.

I can notice when someone is online, goes on a posting binge, or when I've not seen them in a while.

Sometimes I even spot people delete or edit their posts right after they post them. I can see posts "making the rounds" until I get sick of seeing them.

I can see the patterns underneath -- the weekends, the seasons -- reflected in what people post about. Things speed up, or slow down.

When there's a pause, only the bots keep posting.

@gia_cmrka Dik za radu s tou barvou na plak. 👍 Nasel jsem si misto na dolni osmicce, kam se s normalnim kartackem kvuli pantu proste nedostanu, az se mi tam udelala tmava skvrna. Tak jsem si koupil jednosvazkac a drhnu to tim. Snad se mi to podari zvratit, ale podruhe v zivote mam opravdovou motivaci jit k zubari.

Kdybych byl nejaky ten iluminat, zednar, reptilian nebo kyhocerta a vedel bych, ze Zeme speje k neodvratne katastrofe:

1. snazil bych se nenapadne vsechny presvedcit, ze je hrozne cool stavet zakladny na Mesici/Marsu, ac k tomu neni jediny pragmaticky duvod
2. vnuknul bych lidem nadeji na napravu, pokud se vsichni budou hrozne snazit, aby kvuli vlastnimu svedomi dal makali a nenastal chaos
3. roznesl bych informaci, ze si za to vpodstate muzou sami zivotem v hrichu (uhlikova stopa) a bohuzel celospolecenskou nedostatecnou snahou katastrofu odvratit, abych zavrel hubu i tem, na ktere by nezabral bod 2
4. kdyby se nedejboze opravdu vsichni snazili a makali jeste radostneji a usilovneji, ukaze se nakonec, ze vedci kolektivne neco hrozne prehledli, takze jsme tak jako tak odsouzeni k zaniku
